| Objective:To investigate the clinical significance and prognostic value of peripheral blood absolute lymphocyte count(ALC) at admission for patients with extranodal diffuse large B cell lymphoma. Methods:Clinical features and effect of chemotherapy of59patients with pathologically confirmed extranodal diffuse large B cell lymphoma in our hospital between January2009and March2012were reviewed. The relationship between different ALC levels and the clinical features and effects of extranodal diffuse large B cell lymphoma patients was analyzed. Results In our data, the average age of patients was61.8years, taking ALC=1.0×109/L as cut-off points, we found patients of lymphomia(ALC<1.0×109/L) at diagnosis tended to be of later clinical stage. Furthmore, these patients were more likely to achieve a lower rate of overall reaction rate (ORR)(P<0.05). No significant differences were found between age, gender, ECOG, LDH level, IPI score and the ALC level at presentation. Conclusion:Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma is a heterogeneous group of diseases, and extranodal disease and non-germinal center subtypes may affect the efficacy of rituximab. Simultaneously, our data suggest that ALC at diagnosis is a novel, powerful predictor of prognosis in extranodal diffuse large B cell lymphoma. |
