Objective: Growth Hormone-Secreting (GH) adenoma is a common clinicalhormone secreting pituitary adenoma, its disease progression is Slow, but can often causemultiple organ impairment,it performance for gigantism before puberty, acromegaly isthe main symptom in adulthood. The disease often leads patients to have the chroniccomplications, such as diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia and cardiovascular.Toevaluate the efficacy of transsphenoidal microsurgery for growth hormone-Secretingadenoma, Analysis of relevant factors affecting the surgical treatment and postoperativecomplications,in order to Assess the effect of surgery, guide on the further clinicaltreatment. Methods:Retrospectively reviewed the30Patients of transsphenoidal microsurgeryfor growth hormone-Secreting adenoma from the First Affiliated Hospital of DalianMedical University from June2006to June2011,follow-up6-24months. setting groupsis based on tumor size, growth pattern, the preoperative GH levels before surgery, preoperative drug treatment,to evaluation the surgical outcome according to the clinicalpostoperative hormone levels. Results: Total remission rate was53.3%in30patients,preoperative GH≤30ug/L,30-60ug/L,>60ug/L,postoperative remission rates were83.3%,57%,30%,compared withGH≤30ug/Lgroup,30-60ug/L,and>60ug/L group were significantly different, statisticallysignificant (p<0.05),the postoperative remission rates of Microadenomas, macroadenomas, giant adenomas were100%,60%and27.2%, the endocrine remissionrates were significantly different, with statistical significance (P<0.05),giant adenomaand microadenomas endocrine response rate has a significant difference (P <0.01).thepostoperative remission rates of Non-invasive pituitary adenomas, invasive pituitaryadenomas were66.7%,22.2%, There are significant differences between the two wasstatistically significant (p <0.05). the postoperative remission rates between taking the drug and no taking the drug were61.5%、47.1%, There are no significant differencesbetween the two was statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusions:Transsphenoidal Microsurgery is the preferred treatment method forthe the majority of growth hormone-Secreting adenoma, tumor size, preoperative GHlevels, invasive effect the treatment.
