The Cultural Dimensions Of Military Medical Ethics

As the collection of military, medical, and ethics, the military medical ethics haveimportant humanistic value of the era. Thus, it need the research of its cultural demensions.Besides, as a new subject, military medical ethics need improved cultural support topromote the constrction of its theory and value system. This dissertation using the researchmethod of cultural demensions to analyse the whole system of the military medical ethics.The general leading thoughts are the analyse on the cause of interior and exterior relationsof dialectical materialism. In order to provide some constructive suggestions to the developof the military medical ethics’s culture and also the whole system of the military medicalethics in our country.The text is divided into five parts.Section one, is Foreword. Firstly, overall state that the modern military medical callsfor the cultural consciousness of military medical ethics. Secondly, respectively state thenecessity and feasibility of the cultural dimension of military medical ethics. Thirdly, pointout the research status and innovation of the study.Section two, is Chapter One. In this section, the dissertation analysis thecharacteristics of the chinese and western military medical ethics’s culture timely. TheChinese military medical ethics’s culture is divided into three periods: the “morallybeneficial to the society” period in ancient times; the “more open vision and more powerfulnational strength” period in the modern times; the “revolutionary humanitarianism” in thecontemporary times. The western military medical ethics’ culture is also divided into threeperiods: the “religion and theology” period in the ancient times; the “rational and humane”period in the modern times; the “diversity and hegemony” period in the contemporarytimes.Section three, is Chapter Two. In this section, the dissertation analysis the constitutionof the military medical ethics. There are military culture, medical culture and ethicalculture. In military medical ethics’ culture, the military culture is the guide culture; themedical culture is the basic culture; the ethical culture is the core culture.Section four, is Chapter Three. In this section, the dissertation analysis the currentcultural circumstances of military medical ethics. Firstly, it is a multiculture, consists ofnative culture, foreign culture, mass culture, and elite culture. Secondly, it is full ofdifferences during the cultural collision of foreign-related military action; the culturalargument of battlefield euthanasia; the cultural argument of triage and equal treatment; and the cultural argument of the prisoner’s life rights. Thirdly, it is under the influence ofcultural hegemony by both cultural infiltration and humanitarian intervention.Section five, is Chapter Four. In this section, the dissertation puts forward thesuggestions for the constraction of military medical ethics in our country. There are threeconstruct principles: the principle of combining domination and diversity; the principle ofcombining inheritance and innovation; the principle of combining openess andselectiveness. There are three aspects of construct content: the spiritual culture; thematerial culture; and the institutional culture. There are three construct roads: bystrengthing the construction of core values; by setting up a variety of culture platform; bystandardizing the system; by promoting talents cultivation; and by building early warningmechanism.
