| Objective:This study was designed to observe and evaluate the clinic effect byusing fixed appliance in treatment of adult anterior open bite, and to investigatetreatmeat planning and methods of adult anterior open bite. Methods: A female case with anterior open bite was selected from theOrthodontic Division of the first Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University in2009,who was20years and9months.Bony open bite;classic II skeletal pattern;high—angle; bilateral molars class II relationship;crowed of upper arch and lowerarch;upper arch stenosis;1-mm deviation of the mandibular midline to the right;facialprofile protrusion;slightly open lips teeth. The patient was extracted four first premolarsmaxillary.and.mandibular with fixed appliance.Hard and soft tissue profile before andafter treatment were measured by the lateral cephalometric radiograph and plastermodleResults: The course of orthodontical treatment need28months.Compared thechanges between pre-and post-treatment:The first molar relationship changed fromClassâ…¡intoâ… , maxillary dental arch was expanded, and the crowed of upper arch andlower arch had been corrected the super and lower incisors were extruded and the superincisors were retracted, the angle of U1-NA decreased from31°to24.5°;the super andlower molars were uprighted and intruded, the occlusal plane was improved, mandibularplane angle became smaller, normal overjet and overbite were established, and the superand lower lips were retracted snghtly,ANS-Me decreased2.5mm.significantimprovement of facial profile, the patient and her parents were satisfied with the result oforthotherapy after treatment. Conclusions:anterior openbit of high angle in adult can be corrected by fixedappliance and reasonabIe design and correct method. |
