Objective To observe the myoelectricity amplitude of orofacial masticatory muscles when needling Hegu(LI4),Houxi(SI3) and Kunlun(BL60),and discuss the acupoint of "Hegu(LI4) Is Indicated for Orofacial Disorders" has its specificity. In order to provide the experimental basis of clinical extensive use about Hegu(LI4).Methods To collect44healthy adult volunteers(The volunteers are all from Zhejiang university of Chinese medicine, aged from20to29years old). Dividing44volunteers into2groups, including experimental group(Hegu(LI4)) and control group(Houxi(SI3) and Kunlun(BL60)) and this experiment uses the contrast before and after itself. The healthy adult volunteers need to be needled left Hegu(LI4),right Hegu(LI4),left Houxi(SI3),right Houxi(SI3),left Kunlun(BL60)and right Kunlun(BL60) every five days. The acupuncture appliance is needle of0.30×25mm and the depth of needling is about20mm.The operator should rotate the needle until he has the feeling of needling sensation. At the same time using PowerLab data acquisition system records the myoelectricity amplitude of masticatory muscles(masseter). The first5minutes is to record the baseline of myoelectricity amplitude before the needling process and to record the evoked myoelectricity amplitude while the subjects have the feeling of needling sensation in the next5minutes.Then stop the needling and record the myoelectricity amplitude after acupuncture treatment in the last5minutes.And then observe the EMG of average amplitude, maximum amplitude and induction time on the bilateral orofaical sides in this three needling process.Results①The experimental group and control group have both much significantly increased on the bilateral average amplitude in the needling process and after acupuncture treatment than that before the needling process(P<0.05);②In the experimental group, the ipsilateral average amplitude has much significantly increased than that in the contralateral side(P<0.05),but there has no difference in the control group(P>0.05);③The bilateral average amplitude has much significantly increased in the experimental group than that in the control group(P<0.05);④The bilateral maximum amplitude of experimental group is higher than that of control group obviously (P<0.05);⑤The evoked time that reaches the bilateral maximum amplitude of experimental group is shorter than that of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion①The bilateral masseter can all induce EMG reponse when needling Hegu(LI4),Houxi(SI3) and Kunlun(BL60);②The EMG reaction(included average amplitude, the maximum amplitude and the maximum amplitude induction time) of needling Hegu(LI4) is much higher than the reaction of needling Houxi(SI3) and Kunlun(BL60);③The ipsilateral electromyographic response evoked is higher than that in the contralateral side when needling Hegu(LI4).
