Objective: To investigate applied value of neuroendoscopy utilized in suboccipitalretrosigmoid approach for resection of acoustic neuromas. Material and Method:33patients with acoustic neuroma were analyzed, of which27cases in conventionalcraniotomy group (non-NEAM group) and6cases in the endoscope-assisted surgerygroup (NEAM group). By compared the treatment of posterior lip of internal auditorycanal, total removal rate of the tumor, postoperative complications and postoperative facialnerve function among two groups of patients, to evaluate the applied value ofneuroendoscopy used in neurilemmoma surgery. Results: All27cases in non-NEAMgroup removal posterior lip of internal auditory canal in different degrees,12cases withremoval posterior lip of internal auditory canal>1.0cm,15cases≤1.0cm,8cases withmastoid air cells open. There was no treatment occurred in posterior lip of internalauditory canal in all6cases in NEAM group, non-NEAM group and NEAM group had nocerebrospinal fluid leak occurred. Among6cases in NEAM group, the patients with totalremoval rate of100%, however,27cases in non-NEAM group; total removal wasachieved in27cases and subtotal removal in2cases with the total removal rate of92.6%.The statistical results of postoperative facial nerve function shows that no significantstatistical differences was observed on retaining postoperative facial nerve functionutilized neuroendoscopy in surgery, it can be concluded that two groups have achievedsame surgery results. Conclusion: Neuroendoscopy auxiliary resection of acousticneuroma is helpful to broaden visual field, to avoid damage to normal structures andintracranial nerve, it guarantee that the total removal rate and reduce of postoperativecomplications, does not affect the patient’s postoperative facial nerve function.
