The Variations And Significance Of Serum IL-18and PIGF Levels In Patients Of Diabetes Mellitus Complicated With Coronary Heart Disease

Objective:To explore the variations and significance of serum IL-18and PIGF levels in patients of diabetes mellitus (DM) complicated with coronary heart disease (CHD).Methods:Screen out131male patients undergoing coronary angiography as subjects for study:DM with CHD (without ACS30cases, with ACS30); uncomplicated CHD (without ACS30, with ACS30) and no DM and no CHD11cases. ELISA is used for determination of serum concentrations of IL-18and PIGF, and their variations are compared and the related factors analyzed.Results:1. Serum IL-18:(1) The level in patients of DM with CHD is higher than that in patients of uncomplicated CHD (P=0.043); the level in patients of uncomplicated CHD with ACS is lower than that in patients no DM and no CHD (P=0.014); the differences in levels of the other subgroups are of no statistical significance (P>0.05).(2) Take DM and ACS as two factors for variance analysis. The level in patients of DM is higher than that in patients without DM(P=0.040); that in patients without ACS is higher than that in patients with ACS (P=0.015).2. Serum PIGF:(1) the level in patients of uncomplicated CHD is elevated, and is even higher after onset of ACS (both P<0.01); the level in patients of DM with CHD is elevated (P<0.05), and markedly reduced after onset of ACS (P<0.01).3. Use logIL-18、 logPlGF as dependent variables for multiple linear regression and related analysis, and the equation has no statistical significance (P>0.05).Covariance analysis shows that the serum IL-18and PIGF levels are related with various subgroups (P<0.05)Conclusion:1. IL-18is related with DM complicated with CHD. The serum level of IL-18in patients of CHD is reduced after onset of ACS, but determining serum IL-18alone is not helpful for evaluation of the risk of developing ACS in patients of DM with CHD.2. Serum PIGF level is elevated in patients of DM with CHD, and is markedly reduced after the onset of ACS. Dynamic monitoring of serum PIGF levels may be helpful for the risk evaluation of onset of ACS in patients of DM with CHD.3. Serum levels of IL-18and PIGF are related with various subgroups, but their relations may not be linear.
