Objective: To observe the characteristic of urolithiasis patients and the composition ofstone. Provide the evidents for further study on the etiology, diagnosis and treatment, andgive the data for health administrative departments to make health policies and preparehealth resources. Methods: The retrospectively study and the technique of infrared spectrophotometryhave been used to analze the data of708urolithiasis cases from Hospital of GuizhouProvincial and the calculus collected in patients. The distrbution of age, gender and positionof stone have been described also.Results:1. In708urolithiasis cases, the ratio of male and female was1.97:1. The ratio of40~60years old group was46.60%, ranking first in the urolithiasis cases.2. The ratio ranking of calculus composition were calcium oxalate (94.77%), carbonateapatite (38.10%), uric acid or ammonium urate (13.41%), magnesium ammoniumphosphate (3.53%), dicalcium phosphate (0.56%) and cystine (0.28%).3. In the cases of patients with oxalate calculus calciun, the ratio of male was95.95%,female92.43%, there was no significant difference (P>0.05). In In the cases of patientswith anhydrous uric acid+calcium oxalate calculus; the ratio of male was13.40%, thefemale3.78%, the male was higher than female (P<0.05); and in the infectious calciun(magnesium ammonium phosphate) cases, male1.49%, female7.56%, male wassignificantly lower than that of the female (P<0.05).4. The ratio ranking of calculus position were kidney (71.47%), ureter (23.02%),bladder (5.23%) and urethra (0.28%); In the different position, calcium oxalate calculiranked at first. Except for the bladder calculus which ranking at second with the componentof uric acid or uric acid salt, the carboapatite calculis which collected at other position wereranked at second. 5. In the elderly group (≥60years), the calcium oxalate component of calculi aremostly (94.24%). The detection ratio of other components were same as the low age groupbasically. But the component of uric acid or ammonium urate was23.02%, significantlyhigher than the lower age group (13.79%)(P <0.05); In addition, in the elderly group, thebladder calculi ratio was19.42%, higher than that of the lower age group (1.81%)(P <0.05).Conlcusion: In the observed708cases of urolithiasis and their calculi composition, there are some different distribution in age and gender; most urolithiasis occurred in kidney;calcium oxalate calculi was ranked at first and the ratio was higher than other provinces; The elderly group and lower age group have the same characteristics, except the higherproportion of bladder calculi. Therefore, the related problems should be researched and thetechniques of prevention and treatment should be prepared.
