Objective To compare the difference of lower limb proprioception between the youngand the middle-aged and elder people, and analyse their correlation betweenproprioception acuity and age.Method To select60participants(30of young people and30of middle-aged andelder people),They are all from Department of rehabilitation medicine in AnhuiProvincial Hospital,Who are mainly for doctors, nurses, therapists and family ofpatients. It consist of15man and women in the each tean Healthy young group (20~39years) and old group (40~79years).Each subject age between20to79years.Theywere assessed by PK254p rehabilitation system of multiaxial proprioceptiveassessment,in order to obtain the proprioceptive acuity of their lower limbs. Testsshould be conducted in a quiet and comfortable environment, and test position issitting. The total test time is20~30minutes.To be excluded from samples in thespecified time period if he or she is failed to complete it in the test. The variables ofAverage Trace Error(ATE),Time and SI were used in determining the proprioceptiveacuity in this test. Results The parameters in the elderly lower limb by the test result,(ATE, Time)valuesare greater than the young group (P<0.05), and the vaule of SI had no significantdifference between the two group(P>0.05).Each parameter sensitivity from each grouphad no significant difference between left and right lower limb proprioceptive acuity(P>0.05). In the older group parameter sensitivity of ATE were positively correlatedwith age(P<0.05), the youth group parameter sensitivity of ATE had no correlation with age(P>0.05). Found in the two group parameter of time had no correlation withage. Conclusions The old people in the proprioceptive acuity of lower limbs is less thanyoung people. And the proprioceptive acuity of each lower limb of body healthypopulations has no obvious difference. There is significant correlation between theproprioception and age in the elder people, and the correlation between proprioceptionsensitivity and age was negative. Howere, there is no significant correlation between theproprioception and age in the yong people.Suggesting that along with the age growth, proprioception sensitivity of lower limbs is declining. It aslo manes that age is one of theimportant factors affecting proprioception of healthy adults.
