Dienogest (DNG) is the hybrid progesterone, which has recently been usedin clinical trials and studies for its effects on treatment of endometriosis. These studies have shown that use of2mg/day of DNG is effective in reducing the endometriotic related pelvic pain, reducing theendometriotic lesion and also improves the quality of life. DNG in these studies have shown the favorable safety and tolerability with minimal adverse effect and high rates of compliance andlow withdrawal rates. This review article describes these clinical trial evidences whichcharacterizes the safety and efficacy of DNG on endometriosis and its relevance in the treatmentof endometriosis in the clinical practice.
