Bjective: to investigate the clinical value of caseinphosphopeptide-amorphic calcium phosphate(CPP-ACP) to prevent enameldemineralization in the fixed orthodontic process.Methods:60orthodonticpatients signed to agree to participate in this research. They were randomlydivided into3groups,20patients in each group. Group A was control group, and group B was fluoride foam group. Group C was CPP-ACP group.3groups of patients were taken occlusion photograghs with Canon60D cameraeach month from the beginning of the treatment. The patients were observed for1year and13photos were taken. The clinical test index is whether newplaque or caries appear on the tooth surfaces. EDI was calculated. Datas wereanalyzed in SPSS15.0,numeric variables with the rank sum test, categoricaldata using the chi-square test Results:(1) Enamel demineralization rate ingroup A, B and C increases as time goes by.(x2趋势A=259.615,P=0.000,x2趋势B=190.416、x2趋势C=207.512,P=0.000);(2)average of EDI in the3groups:xA=0.0520, xB=0.0200,xC=0.0213。Group B vs. group A: t=2.929,P=0.008. Group C vs. group A: t=2.911,P=0.008. Group B vs. group B: t=0.340,P=0.737.(3) Enamel demineralization rate in the3groups: Enameldemineralization rate in group A was higher than that in group B, and there isstatistical difference between the2groups(x2=19.227,P=0.000); Enamel demineralization rate in group A was higher than that in group C, and there isstatistical difference between the2groups(x2=21.892,P=0.000); there is nostatistical difference between the group B and group C in demineralization rate(x2=0.053,P=0.818).
