| Objeetive:Medical intervention on patients with postoperative abnormal defecation from anterior resection for rectal cancer, through traditional Chinese medicines reinforcing the spleen and yang, eliminating dampness and diarrhea, and discuss the efficacy of the decoction of shengyang chushi in recovering the postoperative anal function for rectal cancer. Methods:Collect and filter30cases of patients with postoperative abdominal defecation from anterior resection for rectal cancer in Nanjing TCM Hospital from January2012to March2013. All30cases are divided equally into experimental group and controlled group. Cases in experimental group are dosed with decoction of chinese medicine,Which is modified Decoction of Shengyang Chushi since the emergance of postoperative abnormal defecation including frequent defecation, fecal urgency, irregular bowel movements, etc. with100ml per day in both morning and evening for3weeks. The controlled group is not treated. Observe the frequency of defecation, quality of feces, borborygmus and farting, bellyache, bloating and so on after frug withdrawal(about1month later), score the cases with Xu Zhongfa’s5-item and10-point scale, and the score sheet for fecal incontinence, to evaluate the postoperative anal function. Results:The statistical analysis showed that patients in both groups are comparable without remarkable difference (P>0.05) in sex, age, the distance from anastomosis to anal margin, and the tumor stage. Both groups are compared to themselves1month after the operation, in which the experimental group showed significant improvement in postoperative anal function1month later (P<0.05), and the score of anal function in controlled group has no remarkable difference (P>0.05). And then both groups are compared to each other, the result showed P<0.05, with significant difference, which means the recovery of anal function in experimental group are faster than in controlled group. Both groups are scored with Wexner score sheet1month after the operation, and the results showed P=0.922>0.05after comparision, which means no significant difference. The result of experimental group in quality of feces and defecation frequency is significantly better than the controlled group (P<0.05), while no significant difference is observed in bellyache, bloating, borborygmus, and fatigue (P>0.05). As long as the total efficacy is concerned, the experimental group is better than the controlled group.Conelusion:Decoction of Shengyangchushi is capable of improving the recovery of anal function of patients with postoperative abnormal defecation from anterior resection for rectal cancer, as well as the quality of feces and defecation frequency. Meanwhile, it is also helpful to the recovery from bellyache, bloating, borborygmus, farting and fatigue. |
