Background:Chronic stable angina pectoris is the most common types of coronary heart disease(CAD),Early diagnosis and treatment can significantly improve the outcomes.Recently, study indicated that N terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) is also a biomarker which assess the risk of cardiovascular events and predict prognosis of heart disease.SYNTAX score (SS) as an semi-quantitative objective evaluation index, which can be used not only to risk-stratify patients with complex coronary disease, but also to predict cardiovascular adverse outcomes and educate the extent and severity of coronary artery lesion.Coronary angiography is considered the gold standard in the diagnosis of coronary artery disease. However,as a invasive technique, there are various complications related to operation procedure, therefore, there is a need for a non-invasive method with high diagnostic value in clinical. Objective:A current study came to address the association between plasma NT-proBNP levels and severity of coronary vessels’defects based on SS in patients with stable coronary heart disease candidate for coronary angiography。 Methods:The study population consisted of98consecutive patients hospitalized in The Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University fromIn January2012to January2013.The patients were divided into three groups according to SS value, including low risk group(1-22)、 intermediate risk group(23-32), high risk group(≥33). All participants underwent selective left and right coronary angiography And SS was determinded. For plasma NT-proBNP measurement and just before the catheterization of left coronary,5cc blood samples were drawn from arteria radialis.Plasma NT-proBNP and other biochemical markers were measured in all subjects. Results:AS SS value increase, their ejection fraction values were lower (p<0.05).The plasma NT-proBNP level was independently associated with SS (β=0.231,p<0.001)and ejection fraction(β=-0.269,p <0.001) on multiple linear regression analysis. Conclusion:Plasma NT-proBNP was independently associated with the extent of stable angina pectoris.
