Objective: To compare the strengths and weaknesses of neurosurgicalclipping with endovascular coiling in patients with ruptured middle cerebralartery (MCA)aneurysm in order to provide a meaningful guidance forclinical treatment.Method: From September2011to December2012,27patients withruptured MCA aneurysm were admitted to our department.22cases wereassigned to neurosurgical clipping group,5cases were assigned toendovascular coiling group. We Statistics the follow-up data which containsthe imaging review after operation, the outcome at discharge, thepostoperative duration of hospital stay, the postoperative duration of stay inthe ICU and the imaging review and outcome after3months to18months.Results: There was no statistical significances of the imaging reviewafter operation, the outcome at discharge, the postoperative duration ofhospital stay, the postoperative duration of stay in the ICU and the imagingreview and outcome after3months to18months between neurosurgicalclipping group and endovascular coiling group(P>0.05). Conclusion: At present, neurosurgical clipping should remain thetreatment of choice for MCA aneurysm. Endovascular coiling is also suitablefor partial MCA aneurysm without intracranial hematoma.
