1ObjectiveFrom the perspective of “psychosomatic disease”, treating hyperplasia of mammaryglands physically and mentally, i.e. harmonizing five zang-organs during conventionaltreatment, is bound to be a new idea. The purpose of this study is to explore the efficacy oftreating hyperplasia of mammary glands physically and mentally and its role to patients’mental status and quality of life so as to provide new ideas and methods.2BackgroundFirstly, both TCM emotional theory and related theory in modern psychosomaticmedicine hold that psychosomatic disease is a natural phenomenon, the difference is thatthe former is discussing the macro while the latter revealing the micro. physiological andbiochemical changes occur due to psychological stress reaction, which involves multiplesystems of the body, in particular, is closely related to the neuro-endocrine-immuneregulatory network. When this condition progresses or continues for a long time, disordersof a certain organ will occur, resulting in the occurrence of disease.Secondly, in recent years, in-depth study of psychosomatic medicine and TCMpsychology reveals that the “heart” in TCM covers the so-called “brain consciousness”and “mixed emotions” in modern medicine, which has a regulating role to the function oforgans.Thirdly, Therefore, the author believes that hyperplasia of mammary glands due tostagnation of liver Qi is closely related to “heart”, and based on which, the new idea is putthat hyperplasia of mammary glands due to stagnation of liver qi is treated from theviewpoint of psychosomatic disease.3Clinical research120included patients with breast hyperplasia were divided into two groups by random: control group and treatment group. Rupixiao was given to the former, while emotionaltherapy to the latter in addition. Both groups received a2-month treatment and recordedfor the scores of clinical symptoms, signs, color ultrasonic scores, QOL-BREF scale andSCL-90scale before treatment, at the end of treatment and4months after treatment. Alldata were processed by SPSS17.X±S was used to represent measurement data, forwhich t-test and F test were used, x2test was used for count data, the result of P <0.05wasconsidered to be significantly different. The results showed that there were significantdifferences between the treatment group and control group in the scores of clinicalsymptoms, signs, color ultrasound, QOL-BREF scale and SCL-90scale (P<0.01).Significant difference was found in curative rate and obvious effect rate (P<0.01) betweentwo groups and no difference in the total effective rate (P>0.01). There was significantdifference in somatization, anxiety, depression, hostility, interpersonal sensitivity factors ofterrorism in SCL-90scale in the treatment group(P<0.01). Results of follow-up:Significant difference was found in curative rate and total effect rate between two groups(P<0.01); the treatment group showed an increasing trend of curative rate and totaleffective rate, while the control group an obviously declined trend (P<0.01)4DiscussionTreating hyperplasia of mammary glands due to stagnation of liver qi physically andmentally is of a long term and potent efficacy, which aims at emotional factors, one rootcause for the recurrence and development. The results show that treating hyperplasia ofmammary gland due to stagnation of liver qi physically and mentally can significantlyimprove the cure rate of hyperplasia of mammary glands due to stagnation of liver qi,reduce the recurrence rate, and improve the patients’ psychological status and quality oflife at the same time, which fits the view of searching for fundamental of disease intreatment in traditional Chinese medicine.5ConclusionHyperplasia of mammary glands has a close correlation with human emotions, whichleads to poor clinical efficacies for patients with stagnation of liver qi. Meditation therapycan correct cognition and induce relaxation to eliminate the source of adverse emotions, which corresponds to searching for fundamental of disease in treatment in traditionalChinese medicine.
