Study On The Occupation Expectation And Its Relevant Factors Among Nursing Postgraduates

Objective:To investigate the status and influencing factors of occupation expectationamong nursing postgraduate，so as to provide references for them to establish thecorrect occupation expectation.Methods:By using the method of quantitative research and qualitative researchtogether.part1:A total of323postgraduate nursing students in13universities, fromall over the country, were investigated with the Scale for Occupation Expectation,which was divided into status reputation dimensions, intrinsic value dimensions andexternal value dimensions, including22items.part2:Phenomenological method wasused in the study. Sixteen nursing postgraduates were interviewed by a semi-structured questionnaire,and the data was analyzed using Nvivo9.2from QSR.Results：(1)Quality research:The top5scores of22items were as follow：Providemedical、endowment and housing accumulation fund（4.22±0.94）；Occupationalstability（4.12±0.94）；Equality of opportunity, fair competition（3.95±1.05）；Application（3.85±1.12）；To display their talent（3.96±1.00）. Three of them belongto the intrinsic value dimensions. The occupation expectation was related to thegender, grade,the first degree of students and working experience significantly（p<0.05）.(2)Quantitative research:Self-development factor becomes the first considerationto choose a job for the nursing postgraduate, and they hope will have a better careerdevelopment in the future.Moreover the welfare and stability factor and professionalenvironment factor are still important.Conclusion：Nursing postgraduate students should stable their professional thought in thelearning process and face the direction of disciplinary development. The collegesneed to make a clear education target, excellent professional nursing postgraduate training. It’s also requires an adjustment in the needs of society to constantly updatethe content of education and professional standards. Opening nursing planningeducation programs and lectures about career counseling for students in differentgrades, in order to capitalize nursing graduates’ basic professional thoughts and adjustvocational mentality.The employer should pay attention to the needs of occupation,formulate the reasonable nursing personnel occupation development planning,rational allocation of human resources, give full play to the advantages of nursingpostgraduates.
