Objective: To explore the diagnosis value of T2mapping artificial color image and T2value for patellar cartilage damage.Materials and methods:1.Case data: Collection in May2012to February201245patients who accept both theknee MR and arthroscopic surgery patients as research subjects, including25males and20females, aged30-51years, mean40.7years.2. Scanning technology and image post-processing: By GE Company Signa3.0T MRexamination. The scan sequence include: FSE-T1WI, FSE-T2WI, FS-FSE-PDWI andT2mapping. Send T2mapping image to the GE-ADW4.3workstation, the applicationFUNCTOOL T2map software reconstruction to generate T2mapping artificial colorimage of patellar cartilage. Adjust the threshold so that the normal patellar cartilageshowing a uniform blue level, near the joint effusion showing the level of gray, green-yellow color gradation when the cartilage injury.Measured T2value on T2mappingartificial color image.3. Image evaluation method: All MR images by two radiologists with highqualification, reading for MRI cartilage damage standard the ICRS classification;Arthroscopy completed by two experienced specialists, cartilage damage standard theOuterbridge classification.4. Observational indexes:(1)The patellar cartilage damage T2mapping artificial color image and FS-FSE-PDWI display the area and classification;(2)The arthroscopy shows part of the patellar cartilage injury and classification;(3)The comparison of the patellar cartilage damage of T2mapping artificial colorimage, the FS-FSE-PDWI and arthroscopy;(4)T2mapping T2value of patellar cartilage damage. 5.Statistical analysis:(1)Patellar cartilage injury T2mapping artificial color image, FS-FSE-the PDWI andarthroscopic correlation analysis using Spearman rank correlation test;(2)Evaluating the difference of T2mapping artificial color image and FS-FSE-PDWIusing the paired difference test level data;(3)Normal T2value and patellar cartilage injury I-III grade T2value compared usingone-way ANOVA;(4)Normal patellar cartilage medial and lateral T2values compared using pairedsamples test.Results:1.45cases of patellar cartilage suspected the damage on T2mapping artificial colorimage,16cases diagnosed as normal,29cases of patellar cartilage damage, I-IV gradeinjury were17,11,10,7; on FS-FSE-PDWI,15cases diagnosed as normal,30cases ofpatellar cartilage damage, I-IV grade injury were15,13,11,8;on the arthroscopic,14cases diagnosed as normal,31cases of patellar cartilage damage, I-IV grade injury were18,12,10,8. T2mapping artificial color image and arthroscopic correlation coefficient inthe diagnosis of patellar cartilage injuries of varying degrees rs1=0.956, FS-FSE-PDWI and arthroscopic diagnosis of patellar cartilage damage of varying degrees ofcorrelation coefficient rs2=0.903, evaluation of patellar cartilage damage T2mappingartificial color image with arthroscopic correlation is better than the FS-FSE-PDWI witharthroscopic correlation (P <0.05); T2mapping artificial color image andFS-FSE-PDWI compared with the arthroscopic diagnosis of patellar cartilage damagewas no significant difference (P>0.05).2.(1)Normal patellar cartilage T2value is29.575±3.866, injury I-III grade lesion T2values are41.574±6.952,55.364±8.516,63.287±13.423, normal patellar cartilage T2value and patellar cartilage damage I-III grade lesion T2values increased with theseverity of lesions (P <0.05);(2)Patellar cartilage injury grade I lesion T2value is41.574±6.952, the control areaT2value is30.807±4.932, level II lesion T2value is55.364±8.516, the control areaT2value is37.528±6.632, grade III lesion T2value63.287±13.423, the control areaT2value is39.973±8.472, patellar cartilage injury I-III grade lesion T2values werehigher than the control area at the same level (P <0.05). Conclusions:1.Using MR T2mapping artificial color for the first time for the classification ofpatellar cartilage damage assessment, arthroscopy as the standard, confirmed that T2mapping artificial color can be used for the classification of patellar cartilage damageassessment, and better than the FS-FSE-PDWI;2. T2value of patellar cartilage damage gradually increased with the severity of injury,T2value can quantitatively assess the classification of patellar cartilage damage.
