Objective: In order to know the mental status of patients with subjective tinnitusand if they have psychological barrier, we studied the clinical characteristics, changeregulation and effect of their tinnitus and so on. At the same time, we analyzed thedistribution of these psychological barriers to provide some knowledge for clinicaldiagnosis and treatment of tinnitus.Methods:120subjective tinnitus patients had enrolled the department of ENT whowere diagnosed and treated from October2012to February2013in the second affiliatedhospital of Dalian medical university. We choose them as our study objects. Our fixedmedical investigator gave the same three questionnaires to these patients. Then themedical investigator briefly introduced requirements for filling out this threequestionnaires. After the patients understood, they filled in the Tinnitus Classificationquestionnaire, Assessment Scale for tinnitus and Self-reporting Inventory all alone inpeace.Results:1.Tinnitus is more common in the older, young patients were significantlyincreased than previous studies.2. The great majority of the patients were acute tinnitus,more than half of which attended at out-patient.3. The part of tinnitus: the left eartingled is the most common type, unilateral tinnitus is a lot more than bilateral tinnitus.Cranial tinnitus is very rare.4. Loudness of tinnitus: the number of patientswith third-level loudness was the most, there were49persons, about40.8%of thepatients. Others number of patients from high to low was four-level, second-level,six-level, five-level, first-level and zero-level.5. Classification of severity degree oftinnitus: the number of patients with third-level severity degree was the most, therewere59persons, about49.2%of the patients. Others number of patients from high tolow was four-level, first-level, second-level and five-level.6. The effect from differentage classes on the classification of severity degree of tinnitus, there was statistical significance (x~2=27.46,P<0.05). The effect from different tinnitus volume on theclassification of severity degree of tinnitus, respectively, there was statisticalsignificance(x~2=50.734,P<0.05).7. Analysis of120Self-reporting Inventory showsthat: Excepting compulsion and interpersonal sensitivity, somatization, depression,anxiety, hostility, phobia, paranoid and schizophrenia were higher those of nationalnorm.Conclusions:1. Tinnitus is common in elderly, young patients were significantly increased thanprevious studies. In120cases, the great majority of the patients were acute tinnitus,more than half the120patients. The left ear tingled is the most common type, unilateraltinnitus is a lot more than bilateral tinnitus. Cranial tinnitus is very rare.2. The effect from different age classes on the classification of severity degree oftinnitus, there was statistical significance; the influence from tinnitus goes up with theincreasing of age groups. The effect of different tinnitus volume on the classification ofseverity degree of tinnitus, there was statistical significance, the louder of tinnitusvolume, the more serious of tinnitus.3. During this survey on mental health status of120patients, excepting compulsionand interpersonal sensitivity, their somatization, depression, anxiety, hostility, phobia,paranoid and schizophrenia were higher those of national norm.
