Objective:Exploring the essence of six channels diseases of Shanghan Study by "image thought", providing a new thinking and perspective for six channels explanation theory which already has various opinions.Methods:Demonstrating yinyang philosophical model is the product of "image thought", a description of "phenomenon" appeared after Qi circulation of human body in Traditional Chinese Medicine through the perspective of Epistemology. Ascertaining the philosophical essence of tripartition of yinyang by combining application of tripartition of yinyang system of Huangdineijing in Yunqi doctrine, based on which we discuss the essence of six channels disease and syndrome differentiation and treatment regularity of Shanghan Study.Results:The essence of tripartition of yinyang is the six phenomenons appeared during Qi’s ascending, descending, exiting and entering. The essence of six channels disease is the comprehensive embodiment of Qi circulation’s obstacles and prosperity and decline of Qi amount. The key to the treatment of six channels disease is to recover the Qi amount and proper functioning of Qi circulation.Conclusion:Phenomenon differentiation is the essence of syndrome differentiation. It is the scientific method to briefly grasp human pathological changes, the essence of Shanghan Study, as well as the essence of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
