[Objective] Seed is an important part in traditional Chinese medicine. It’s difficult to distinguish because the size of seed is so small that can’t distinguishwith naked eye. It can not be accurately identified in basic medicinal levels. This paperaims to form an identification technique which could be used quickly, high efficiently and suitability in medicinal seeds’ identification.[Method]The experiment used traditional Chinese medicine micro-macroscopically identification method to identify the seed medicinal materials and the seeds in herb medicinal materials.Then this experiment used traditional Chinese medicine micro-macroscopically identification to identify16species of11genus of the seeds from Caryophyllaceae, which for the basic study to find the connection and the differences between these spices.[Results] Differences can be easily found in each group. We could identify and descript the seed medicinal materials and the seeds in herb medicinal materials. Traditional Chinese medicine micro-macroscopically identification can effectively distinguish the true and false. It has laid a solid foundation for the seeds of Chinese traditional medicine micro-macroscopically identification.Common characteristics have founded in Caryophyllaceae family. And different characteristics can be founded among species in the same family. That could be used in the identification of traditional Chinese medicine micro-macroscopically.[Conclusion] Traditional Chinese medicine micro-macroscopically identification method can be used in seeds identification. The method is very simple, economical, and realistic with strong three-dimensional sense, identification of high efficiency. It can be used as a practical method to fast promotion in the base. And it can also provide certainreference for plant species.
