Objective:Summarying the general clinical and pathological features in patients withHOKPP by analyzing retrospectively.Method:Collecting the clinical manifestations and laboratory examination of43patients including inpatients and outpatients diagnosed as HOKPP in the FirstAffiliated Hospital of Jilin University from December2004to January2014,andbiopsying8cases of patients with skeletal muscle, the muscle specimens werecarried out by histochemistry and immunohistochemistry check.Results:(1) Clinical features:37males(86.05%),6females(13.95%).42patientswithout family history (97.68%).The onset averageage age is35.42±9.03yearsold.27cases(62.79%)with limbs flaccid paralysis and14cases(32.56%) with lowerlimb weakness as the first symptom. With aching limbs in15cases(34.88%),28cases(65.12%) with obvious incentive before the onset.43cases of tendon reflexare decreased (100%),including7cases of tendon reflex are not derivative(16.28%).(2) Auxiliary examination:28cases(65.12%)with declining severely of theconcentration of potassium in blood at the onset in43cases,8cases(50.00%)with mild to moderate increasing of CK in16cases.10cases with(31.25%) thyrotoxichypokalemic periodic paralysis(TPP)in32cases.4cases(44.44%) with myogenicdamaging in9cases. biopsying8cases of patients,with4cases(50.00%)of skeletalmuscle pathology showing tubular aggregations.Conclusions:1. Male patients are more than female with HOKPP,the type of HOKPP is mostlysporadic in the study. The average onset age is at20~40years old. 2. The first symptom is weakness of the limbs, mostly in the legs.Tendonreflexes drops or disappears.More than60percents with inducement before onset.3. The concentration of potassium in blood reducing severely when HOKPPoccurs, with CK increasing mostly mild to moderate.TPP is common in the study.EMGmainly exsiting myogenic damage.4. Skeletal muscle in patients with HOKPP exists pathological damage, thetubular aggregates are more comman.
