| BackgroundTotal hip arthroplasty in now widely used in treating adult developmental dysplasiaof the hip and accepted as the first choice for the advanced DDH cases. It has come tobe a great challenge for chinese surgeons in treating DDH cases as patients are often inan advanced stages of DDH and have konwn little about postoperative rehabilitationand the importance in protecting the prosthesis. Facing the difficulties coming fromboth medicine and the society is what orthopaedic surgeons have to deal with.ObjectiveThe main object is to evaluate the short-term effect in DDH treated by THAthrough20cases(30hips) admitted in the orthopaedic department from2009to2012.Summarizing the classifications and treatments of DDH, common complications andpostoperative rehabilitation of THAis also an object of this research.Data and methodsData:20cases (30hips) admitted in the orthopaedic department from2009to2012.1male cases (2hips) and19female cases (29hips). The average age is45(23to67). In9cases the THA operations were performed bilateral concurrently,2case wasperformed bilateral successively. The rest9cases received unilateral THA. The researchuses Crowe classification and7hips are Crowe I,7hips are Crowe II,1hips are CroweIII,16hips are Crowe IV.Methods: The preoperative and postoperative follow-up of patients using Harrisfunctional score system is recorded and analysed wih the help of spss system to evaluate the shor-term effect of the treatment.ResultsThe average follow-up period of all the20cases is23months (6-60). The averagepostoperative Harris score was83(61-94), which have improved significantly.ConclusionTotal hip arthroplasty treating the developmental dysplasia of the hip is an effectivemethod for cases in all stages. By establishing individual preoperative plans andperforming adequate postoperative function exercise, the patients can acquire wellquality of rehabilitation. |
