| PURPOSE:To investigate the characteristics of the uncooperative pediatric patients treatedunder general anesthesia and evaluate the effect of dental treatment under generalanesthesia and the related influencing factors.METHODS:The database for this study involved60uncooperative children treated underdental general anesthesia during December2011-July2013in the Department ofPediatric Dentistry of Jilin University. The information collected included thefollowing: gender, age, number of decayed teeth therapies, the duration of thetreatment and the complications; According to the review of patients, the treatmenteffect of caries filling and root canal therapy of pediatric patients under generalanesthesia and outpatient treatment were compared.RESULTS:The heaviest patients treated under general anesthesia are3-4years old age Thenumber of teeth treated was11.42per capita, the average time spending was17.34min per tooth, the root canal therapy was the most dental procedures. Generalanesthesia complications occurred include1case of fever,1case of oppressive edemaof mucosal,1case of body aches,2cases of traumatic deficiency,3cases ofmalocclusion; The failure rate of caries filling and root canal therapy under outpatienttreatment is higher than treatment under general anesthesia.CONCLUSIONS:3-4years old children is the main component of pediatric patients under generalanesthesia. The root canal therapy is the main content of treatments. Up to now the dental general anesthesia end up with satisfying results in the aspect of caries fillingand root canal therapy, but the postoperative complications may occur,such as fever,malocclusion. |
