| Objective:Investigate the clinical efficacy of Bu Yang Huan Wu Decoction (BYHWD) treatment of acute spinal cord injury (ASCI).Methods:The ASCI inpatient in line with the diagnosis of inclusion and exclusion criteria treated in Luoyang Orthopedic Hospital Spine Surgery between February2012to September2013were selected for the study. The patients were randomly divided into two groups: BYHWD group and control group according to the admission chronological order. The control group using routine clinical treatment, BYHWD group on the basis of the control group plus oraled BYHWD concentrated liquidTo comparative analysis the general information such as gender, age, injury time, injured segments on the two groups of patients. Preoperative and postoperative2weeks,4weeks,8weeks, respectively on two groups of patients do ASIA(American Spinal Injury Association) sensory-motor function score, ASIA classification and FIM (Functional independence measure) score, and to detect the latency and amplitude of sensory evoked potential(SEP) and motor evoked potentials(MEP) on the two groups of patients in the preoperative and postoperative four weeks. The results using SPSS17.0statistical software for analysis, measurement data using x±s, measurement data using independent samples t test, four fold table data using the chi-square test, the results of intra-group and between the group at all time points were compared using a randomized block analysis of variance and multiple comparison level data were compared using Wilcoxon two-sample test, P values less than0.05was considered statistically significant. Results:A total of46patients were enrolled in the study,23in each group, all patients were followed. There was no significant differences in the general information such as gender, age, damage time and segment, etc between the2groups of patients(P>0.05). There was no significant differences on ASIA score and grade,FIM score bwtween the2groups of patients before surgery (P>0.05). ASIA score gradually increased over time after surgery in the2groups of patients, and BYHWD group were higher than control group at each time point. ASIA motor score was no statistically significant differences among the two groups at each time points(P>0.05). ASIA sensory score and total score were statistically significant differences between the two groups in4weeks,8weeks after surgery(P>0.05).The FIM score increased gradually over time in the two groups, and BYHWD group score were higher than control group at each time point., but there was no significant differences at each time points after surgery (P>0.05). The distribution of ASIA classification were improved in the two groups after surgery, B grade percentage has been reduced, C, D grade proportion has increased, but the difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05). bwtween the2groups of patients SEP, MEP latency and amplitude differences were not statistically significant before surgery (P>0.05), four weeks after surgery SEP, MEP latency time are reduced compared with the preoperative, volatility has increased, and BYHWD group SEP, MEP latency time lower than the control group, higher in volatility, the difference was statistically significant between the two groups (P<0.05).46cases of patients during the study does not appear deterioration of spinal cord function, prolonged fever, hypostatic pneumonia, urinary tract infections, bedsores and other complications, the BYHWD group patients in the medication no found drug allergies and other adverse reactions.Conclusions:1. BYHWD can improve the spinal nerve function score of the ASCI patient, shortened SEP, MEP latency and increased amplitude;2. BYHWD can improve spinal function and promote the repair of spinal cord injury, improving patient clinical symptoms, improve the life quality of the ASCI patients. |
