Objective: To observe the therapeutical effect of Modified Jinkui Shenqi Wan on Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia rat model.To investigate the mechanism of modified Jinkui Shenqi Wan in order to provide theoretical and experimental evidence for Chinese medicine on Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia.Methods:10male Wistar rats were chosen randomly as blank group, the rest50male Wistar rats after7days of modeling were randomly divided into model group,finasteride group,Chinese medicine low-dose group,Chinese medicine medium-dose group,Chinese medicine high-dose group.The model of BPH was established by injecting testosterone ProPionate after being castrated.The groups received daily normal saline, finasteride,various doses of Chinese medicine respectively by intragastric administration.The blank group only received an injection of same amount of saline,while the rest50male Wistar rats were injected testosterone ProPionate for28days and then were killed for experiment. The weight and index of the prostate were measured.By means of immunohistochemistry,the expressions of Transforming growth factor β1(TGF-β1) were examined,By means of RT-PCR, the expressions of insulin-like growth factor-one (IGF-1)were examined.Results:①Compared with blank group,each index of model group had significant diff erence (P<0.01).②Compared with model group, the weight and index of the prostate of Chinese medicine groups decrease significantly (P<0.01or P<0.05).③Compared wit h model group, the expression of TGF-β1of Chinese medicine groups decrease obviou sly (P<0.01).④Compared with model group, the expression of IGF-1of Chinese medic ine groups decrease significantly(P﹤0.05or P﹤O.01).Conclusion: All of the Chinese medicine groups had obvious effect on Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia,and the middle-dose one was best. The action mechanism may be related with regulating the expression of growth factors in hyperplasia prostate tissue.
