| Objective To investigate the clinical value of18F-FDG PET/CT in earlydetecting the recurrence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma after radiotherapy. Methods A retrospective analysis of57patients with NPC after radiotherapywith18F-FDG PET/CT and MRI image data,in order to histopathological or clinicalfollow-up data for the standard. Recurrent group has43cases, while non-recurrentgroup with14cases.Results For detecting the recurrence of post-radiation NPC, the sensitivity ofPET/CT and MRI were97.6%and81.4%, respectively; specificity,71.4%and57.1%;accuracy,91.2%and75.4%; positive predictive value (PPV),91.3%and85.4%;negative predictive value (NPV),90.9%and50%, respectively. The sensitivity, accuracy and NPV of PET/CT are higher than MRI, with significant difference(P<0.05), while specificityand PPV without significant difference (P>0.05). Theaverage standard uptaken value (SUV) was7.98±3.29in the recurrent group, while3.31±2.09in the non-recurrent group, with significant difference (P<0.05).Conclusion18F-FDG PET/CT have high accuracy rate and sensitivity in earlydetecting to the recurrence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma after radiotherapy, which canbe considered as a reliable tool of clinical diagnosis. |
