| ObjectiveTo investigate the efficacy and saftey of venlafaxine combined with traditional chinese medicine in the treatment of depression in the elderly and the correlation analysis with ECT.Methods89patients with geriatric depression in our hospital who meet the criteria for major depression as classified by the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10) were randomly divided into research group(45cases)and control group (44cases). The patients in control group were given venlafaxine, the patients in research group were given traditional chinese medicine on basis of control group. The effect of two groups were observed and compared. Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD)and Treatment Emergent Symptom Scale (TESS)were used to evaluate the clinical efficiency and safety respectively before and after1,2,4,6,8weeks treatment. Prior to treatment and at8weeks for ECT inspection and record the results.Results1. Compared with the group before treatment, HAMD scores were significantly decreased from the first weekend in research group, but in control group HAMD scores did not decrease until the second weekend, and the differences were also significant(P<0.05).2. The Anxiety/Somatization Factor scores were significantly decreased from the fourth weekend in two groups (P<0.05).3. The patients for ECT to check whether the abnormal brain perfusion with age and disease duration correlated with education level and gender was no significant correlation.4. ECT results and anxiety/somatization factor score moderately correlated (r=0.67, P<0.05).5. The cure rate(26.83%vs22.50%)and effective rate (87.80%vs80.00%))had no statistically difference between research group and control group, and incidence of side effect had no significant difference between two groups(χ2=15.01, P>0.05). Conclusion1. Age greater the longer the duration, the more brain perfusion abnormalities more obvious faults.2. Anxiety/somatization factor score, the higher brain perfusion abnormalities more obvious faults.3. The therapy of venlafaxine combined with traditional chinese medicine is a safety, effective and well—tolerated treatment methods in the treatment of middle-aged depression, it is worthy of further promotion and research. |
