| Objective To investigate the prevalence of sleep quality, anxiety and depression and theeffect factors among left-behind women in rural area. In order to provide a theoreticalbasis for develop targeted interventions; multiple stepwise regression analysis was usedto explore the influencing factors. Methods We used multistage sampling method. According to the proportion of thepopulation of each township in Changfeng County, we chose three towns. There were2036left-behind women were selected in the survey. We measured with PittsburghSleep Quality Index (PSQI), Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), Self-Rating DepressionScale (SDS) and a self-administered questionnaire during September2012to October2012. On the basis of descriptive study, we analyzed the influencing factors of sleepquality, anxiety and depression through multinomial logistic regression. Results A total2036married women in rural areas were surveyed in this investigation.Comparing672left-behind women, accounted for33.0%and1364none left-behindwomen,accounted for67.0%. The total scores of PSQI between left-behind women andnone left-behind were (8.57±4.59) and (5.68±4.11). The different of The total score ofPSQI between left-behind women and non-left-behind women was significantdifference (t=17.17,P<0.001). The prevalence rates of anxiety were31.8%in allstudies,40.6%in left-behind women, and27.5%in none left-behind respectively. Andthe different prevalence rates of anxiety between left-behind women andnon-left-behind women was significant difference (χ2=35.78,P<0.001). The prevalencerates of depression were34.0%in all studies,41.0%in left-behind women, and30.5%in none left-behind respectively. And the different prevalence rates of depression between left-behind women and non-left-behind women was significant difference(χ2=22.43,P<0.001). There were none significant differences between left-behindwomen and non-left-behind women on age, degree of education, income level, physicalcondition and work. Results from multivariate logistic regression analysis anduniversity research indicated that physical health status (OR=2.901,95%CI=1.525~34.718), elder(≥40, OR=2.515,95%CI=1.893~12.167), time ofleft-behind(≥3years, OR=1.925,95%CI=1.255~2.954) anxiety (OR=16.878,95%CI=2.265~5.078), depression(OR=4.692,95%CI=2.129~6.534) were the riskfactors of sleep quality, while regular in touch with her husband (OR=0.455,95%CI=0.270~0.766), Monthly family income(≥3000Yuan, OR=0.327,95%CI=0.182~0.586). Result from multivariate logistic regression analysis indicatedthat physical health status (OR=2.862,95%CI=1.361~4.718), low sleep quality(OR=1.780,95%CI=1.305~2.188), elder (≥40, OR=2.419,95%CI=1.636~5.031),depression (OR=2.149,95%CI=1.405~3.278), time of left-behind (≥3years, OR=2.013,95%CI=1.269~3.625) were the risk factors of anxiety, while regular in touch with herhusband (OR=0.503,95%CI=0.291~0.834), monthly family income (≥3000Yuan,OR=0.481,95%CI=0.063~0.946) were protective factors. Result from multivariatelogistic regression analysis indicated that physical health status (OR=2.175,95%CI=1.261~4.579), low sleep quality (OR=1.695,95%CI=1.264~2.365), elder (≥40,OR=2.455,95%CI=1.739~4.378), anxiety (OR=3.263,95%CI=1.389~3.157), time ofleft-behind (≥3years, OR=2.223,95%CI=1.435~3.561) were the risk factors of anxiety, while regular in touch (OR=0.611,95%CI=0.351~0.864), Monthly family income (≥3000Yuan, OR=0.562,95%CI=0.194~0.978) were protective factors. Conclusion Low sleep quality, anxiety and depression were very serious in some ruralareas of Anhui Province. It indicated that some interventions aimed at preventing andmitigating the prevalence of low sleep quality, anxiety and depression among left-behind women need to be developed immediately. The influencing factors of lowsleep quality, anxiety and depression were many, but they were more associated withthe frequency of contact. Therefore, targeted health education may be the usefulmeasure for low sleep quality, anxiety and depression. And this will bring enormouseconomic and social benefits. |
