Objective:To study patients with anterior disc displacement with reduction (ADDR) by conservative treatment, the position of articular disc when the symptoms in joint clicking disappeared and to discuss the relationship between the joint clicking and the position of articular disc. Methods:The patients with temporomandibular joint (TMJ) clicking symptoms (N=27) and diagnosed as ADDR (n=49sides).They were therapied by Articulation Training comparing to the TMJ magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)before and after treatments and recording mandibular states in opened and closed states. TMJ oblique sagittal MRIs were used to evaluate the position of articular disc and the data was statistically analysesed with T test using SPSS13.0.Results:The position of the articular disc pre-treatment was28.15°±10.92°,in which concluding4sides joints clicking while the position of TMJ in normal, and45sides not only had joints clicking but also articular disc displacement, the forward rate of articular disc was91.84%.The position of the articular disc post-treatment was28.64°±6.65°, in which pre-treatment45sides with articular disc displacement were still displaced in post-treatment. Comparing pre-treatment to post-treatment, there was no significant difference in the position of the articular disc(P>0.05).Conclusions:There is irrelevant between TMJ clicking and articular disc position.
