This article explored the treatment of unstable fracture of thoracic vertebra andlumbar vertebra. The patient was treated by the internal fixation of pedicle screw. Comparethe vertebral bodies height and Cobb angle before and after the operation and after thepedicle screw was taken out, to study whether the vertebral bodies height and Cobb anglechanges. And then analyse these changes. The whole article is divided into two parts.First: review the cognition of the fracture by traditional and modern medicine, including epidemiology, dissection of this segment of the spine, mechanism of trauma, clinical symptom, radiological examination, therapy and the progress of investigation, wehave lots of good and ripe operative method to cure the unstable fracture of thoracic andlumbar vertebrae. On the base of reading lots pertinent literature, the author thinks thatpedicle screw used in thoracolumber fracture have many-sided flexilility of correcting inthree-dimensional space. It can keep the stable of the restoration of fracture vertebralbodies. Also, it can help to recove physiologica arc, improve the rate of compressedvertebral bodies heigh and provid a biomechanics circumstance for the fusion with bonegraft between lamina and transver.Second: clinical investigation. The author studies 20 patients. Compare the vertebralbodies height and Cobb angle before and after the operation and after the pedicle screw wastaken out. Result: The height of vertebra and Cobb angle restore after operation and theperiode after the screw was taken out. But the latter is worse than the the former. Therefore, the author thinks that pedicle screw system is an effective method for treatment of thoracicand lumbar vertebra fracture, but the compressed vertebral bodies heigh and Cobb anglewill gradually lose when the the vertebra bears a heavy burden.
