This research explored the decision-making preference and the psychological mechansimwhen individual encountered the negative tasks by using experimental method and surveymethod. There were four studies in the research, the first study was a situational survey and toexplore the decision-making preference and the psychological mechanism when individualencountered the negative tasks. The second survey were include a within-subjects experimentand a field experiment which track the emotion changes of individual during the period beforethe negative task were taken place. The third task aimed to disclose the nature of individualdecision-making preference behavior before the negative task. The last experiment explored theintermediary role of pain perception. The results are as following:1. By using the situational questionnaire and structured interview, it was recognized thatmajority people prefer to experience negative task as soon as possible, which is less than one day.The motive of the behavior is to escape the negative mood before the task, such as anxiety, angryand panic.2. By conducting a within-subject field experiment and a longitudinal research, researchersgot the emotion changes during the period before the negative task and found that the positiveemotion(happy) was weakened when it was close to the negative task was taken place, however,changes of negative emotion presented the adverse trend.3. No matter the individuals choose to accept the negative task in advance or to delay it,they are always seeking to experience the least pain.4. The generated pain perception performed an intermediary role in people’sdecision-making when waiting for a negative task.
