| The mastering of a language is not through teaching, but by practice and exercises.Exercise plays a very important role in the teaching of oral Chinese to foreign learners.Only through exercises can the students convert the language knowledge learned inclass to verbal skills and oral communication skills.The important role of practice in recent years has attracted more and morescholars’ attention. The study on textbooks of Chinese as a foreign language practice ison the up trend. But compared with other aspects of studies of Chinese as a foreignlanguage, the research of practice is relatively insufficient, and the studies of oralpractice are even less.Developing Chinese—Elementary Speaking Course, an oral Chinese textbook,which is commonly used in the teaching of Chinese language in most Chineseuniversities and colleges, is chosen as the research object in this paper. Based on thetextbook compiling theory, referring to and summarizing the previous research onexercise design, this paper gives an overall analysis of the textbook from the perspectiveof exercise amount, exercise type and exercise design. According to the data, the thesistries to sum up the fundamental modes of elementary level Chinese textbooks, andprovides some suggestions. First, try to avoid monotonous and repetitive practice infuture practice setting and the mere pursuit of practice quantity; second, in the primarystage of Chinese as a foreign language, more attention should be paid to pronunciationpractice; third, the types of the teaching material should be enriched. The author alsohopes that this research of the textbook exercise will provide some worthwhilesuggestions to the design of the exercise of the oral Chinese textbook for Chineselanguage learners at elementary level. |
