Lost,Vagrant,Seeking

Taiwan film fell between the cracks in1990s.Facing with the changing politics and aggravating economic environment, it fell into a downturn. However, it had an important value in art.The Taiwan film made from1995to1999was characterized by lost trait which transcended morality and law by someone’s atypical behavior. The lost people suffered a vagrant life in the films and finished a rove from soul to body. In common with Taiwan people, the Taiwan film has found a special way in the relationship with Japan, America and Chinese tradition.This paper studies the1995to1999’s Taiwan films from three aspects:subject matters, characters, visual and aural elements. The first chapter will analyze the lost trait based on phenomenon, reasons and skills. The second chapter will be studied based on vagrant life, analyzing how to construct the wandering consciousness from objects to people and the connotation in the field of spirit. In the third chapter, the special way about Taiwan film will be sought by discussing about the relationships between Taiwan, Japan, America and Chinese tradition.
