Choosing《Trio for Viola、Clarinet and Piano》(Carl Reinecke) as an example, performance analysis is applied in this article to analyze the combination of viola, clarinet and piano from the viola’s point of view.There are mainly four parts in this article:to begin with, the feasibility of select viola, clarinet and piano as a combination is explored by discussing the origination and development of the aforementioned combination in the history of music. Followed by the description of the lifetime and music style of Carl Reinecke. Thirdly, a musician analysis is conducted regarding the Carl Reinecke’s Trio for Viola、Clarinet and Piano, including the table appendix to each chapter together with changing process in the structural, material and tonality. Last but not least, a performance analysis is carried out respecting the combination of viola, clarinet and piano. Specifically, the characters and nature of the musician instruments are briefly introduced, followed by the discussion of intonation, articulation and timbre.
