| Paradigmatic analysis is a method of musical analysis grows under the influence of the linguistics-semiotics mode. Since its birth in the sixties and seventies of the20th century, it has been the focus of attention by western music theorists, in the domestic music theoretical circle, however, the linguistics-semiotics analysis has been slightly insufficient, there is not a study of paradigmatic analysis theory, the practice of the method is even more rare.This dissertation attempts to sort out the theoretical background of paradigmatic music analysis from a linguistics-semiotics aspect, to introduce specific procedures through the analysis of specific pieces of music, and to expound the development of paradigmatic analysis after a brief viewing of a number of music monographs and literature of musical analysis, thus demonstrate the rationality and effectiveness of the method. The main body of the dissertation consists of three parts. The first part is a theoretical combing, aims at sorting out the ins and outs of paradigmatic analysis from a historical perspective, introducing the origin, formation and development of the method. The second part describes the instance of paradigmatic analysis. Through the introduction and commentary of classical analytical instances, as well as the practical application of the method, the author attempts to demonstrate the rationality and effectiveness of the method. The third part is the critical commentary on paradigmatic analysis, which summarizes its general feature:procedure, object and purpose, then points out that the essence of the method is based on the repetitiveness of music, further demonstrates the empirical view, the multi-dimensional nature, the openness characteristic of paradigmatic analysis, and points out the practical value and prospects of further development of the method.The research made in this dissertation expounds the concepts and procedure of paradigmatic analysis, introduces a new perspective and method for musical analysis, and the analysis of specific musical pieces will also be an inspiration for musical composition. |
