The question that the storage units are features, objects or both of them in visual object working memory, is a central issue in the study of visual object working memory. In previous studies, most of the research involves two features storage, the general conclusion is that not only objects but also characteristics are stored in visual object working memory, but there is also a big controversy. Studies have shown that textures could be stored separately with color and shape respectively in long-term memory. But memory performances for shape, color and textures are quite different, for shape it is the highest, for color it is the lowest, and for textures it is between both of them. The study was relatively less about textures in visual object working memory. It is unknown that whether textures as another fundamental property of the graphics can be separately stored in visual object working memory as shapes and colors, and whether these three properties (shape, color and textures) can be bundled as an entirety, and stored in visual object working memory. Based on the traditional paradigm, this article use three dimensional graphics to investigate the processing mechanism of graphic characteristics in visual object working memory under the conditions of different times, and try to isolate the process of different stages in visual object working memory.This study is to explore the issues described above through three experiments. In experiment1, we investigated the shape and textures storage mechanism in visual object working memory in order to solve the problem that whether textures is stored separately with color when they stored in visual object memory working, and whether they have different storage intensity. In experiment2, we explored shape and textures storage mechanism in visual object working memory in order to solve the problem that whether textures s stored separately with shape when they stored in visual object memory working, and whether they have different storage intensity. In experiment3, we studied whether the storage of visual object working memory would increase as the amount of visual information increases, considering simultaneously of three dimensions (shape, color, and textures). The results are showed that:(1)The textures can be stored separately with the color and shape, and can also be stored binding with color and shape in visual object working memory. But there are the main features and secondary features.(2)Memory performances for shape, color and textures are different in visual object working memory, for shape it is the highest, for textures it is the lowest, and for color it is between both of them.(3)The properties of graphics storage in visual object working memory follow feature-object dual-storage mechanism.
