| In the1980s and1990s, Hong Kong Chinese film circles gave birth to a lot of good film directors and film works, in which the director Wong Kar-wai became one of the most compelling film "author" by virtue of its unique cinematic style. From his debut "As Tears Go By" in1988to the2013’s "The Grand Master", Wong Kar-wai had had eleven films coming out; these films won for him the Hong Kong Film Awards, Taiwan’s Golden Horse Film, the Best Director for the Cannes Film Festival and other major awards, besides, Wong Kar-wai has been unanimously endorsed by the international film. In particular, with the comprehensive screening of the big New Year drama "The Grand Master", which has set off a burst of "Wong Kar-wai movie hot" among the audiences and the film critics, thus it can be seen that Wong Kar-wai’s movie is worthy of our careful study. Wong Kar-wai’s film called author film, not only because each of his works are directed by himself, but his films have their own set of personalized movie system that can completely reflect the unique artistic style of the director. This thesis will put Wong Kar-wai in the over-all situation of Hong Kong Film to consider his film authorship, to take Wong Kar-wai’s film into research, to take the creation of the director-in-one as the studying point, to analyze the depth of his movie theme and the unique personal characteristics of the narrative feature and the poetic visual language, to explore the unique film art style of the "author", and to walk into the unique film art world of the "author"This paper mainly discuss from the following aspects:the first part, starting from the background and significance of the paper to analyze the existing research status. The second part, putting Wong Kar-wai’s movie under the background of Hong Kong films to study the background of the era, culture and society, and analyze the standards that Wong Kar-wai’s movies conforming to the author movie, which has the unique qualities of the "author".The third part makes a deep interpretation on the same strain motif that presents on Wong Kar-wai’s film.
