The Ming And Qing Dynasties Chinese Education History And Enlightenment

Traditional language education has a long history in China which reached a mature stagein the Ming and Qing Dynasties through the thousands years of accumulated precipitations.Nearly five centuries from the Ming Dynasty to the Opium War in Qing Dynasty, the feudalsociety transferred from prosperity to decline, but it was also a master period of our traditionallanguage education. During this period, the fruits of human civilization and rich educationalexperiences in thousands years brought together, not only formed a relatively completeeducational philosophy, but also accumulated a serried of excellent teaching principles andmethods, which provides a wealth for the language education of primary and secondaryschools in now days.“Learn lessons from past”, in the new curriculum reform period weshould re-understanding and study the traditional language education in the Ming and QingDynasties from all aspects by new standards and new sights, to absorb the reasonable andbeneficial experiences, by which the development and progress of the current languageeducation will be promoted.This project is not a simple review of the education modes in Ming and Qing Dynasties.However, it firstly expounded the education situation of the Ming and Qing Dynasties in amacro point, which introduced the educational reform, policies and education system. Then itexplained the details of language education in this period in the aspects of reading, writing,language learning and examinations, which selected representative materials, methods anddiscussed the learning ideas and examination systems in order to find out the proper methodswhich can use to “the past serve the present” and “combing the ancient and the modern”. Finally the project focused on the revelations to our language education in now days from theexperiences in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
