Study On Dai Ming-shi’s Ancient Chinese Prose And The Creation Of Literary

Dai Ming-shi is an old text scholar living in the early Qing Dynasty. He is famous for hisancient prose and old literature creation. However, he has been killed for the “NanshanCollection” and the descendents tried to avoid it, and then his works could not been welldiscussed and clarified. Based on the previous researches, the historical background, financialcondition of his family, life ambition and experience, the range of outing, the creation andtheory of the old prose, the influence on the latter, etc. have been discussed and researched.Thus, Dai Ming-shi’s ancient prose achievement is showed objectively and systematically. Atthe same time, the early literature of Qing Dynasty and social background are also displayedin order to have a deep understanding of scholars’ thinking and deeds of the specific time.Chapter One starts from the cultural background he lived. The rulers of Qing Dynastyhave devoted a great deal of energy to repair and maintain from a serials of battles. His familyis strict with him.His ambition is to write history, especially the Ming history. But this aimcould not been achieved for his poverty.The thesis chooses six representative characters toexpound and explain in order to find the influence of the ancient prose on Dai Shiming’s lifeand literature. Thus, it is expected to provide the guidance and reference.Chapter Two is the inheritance and creation of the literature conception. Due to DaiShiming’s aim for the history-writing, he admires the style of Historical Records. He onceproposed the rules of researching histories and thought that the scholars should obey four tips“Reasonable, road use, pass, showing emotion” facing the history. The first part requires“Taoism, legalism and diction all three qualities”. The second part requires “reading manythen integrating into one”. The third requires “sprit and energy mixing in one”. The fourthpart requires “The rate of its nature and its nothing”. Then Dai Shiming also proposes the“writing ancient prose with the method of fashionable prose” according to social reality. Andall influence on Tongcheng School.It is the influence of Fang Bao’s “doctrine of Yifa”,LiuDakui’s sprit theory,Yao Nai argues that poetry and prose show the justice and reason.Chapter Three is about his creation of old literature. Although he depicts the small potato,the characters are vivid. At the same time, his writing style is also showed. Every mountainand stream he written is full of spirituality which releases the endless vitality. The third partstarts from the angle of argumentation which divides two types of allegorical prose and mixed verse. In the style of allegorical prose, Dai Ming-shi criticized the dark society showing thediscontents with society. In the style of the mixed verse, the preface and letters are analyzeddisplaying his writing style and theoretical views.
