The Nationalization Creative Features On The Symphonic Suite "Picture Of The Yangtze River"by Zhong Xinming

Zhong Xinming, born in1935in Nanning City of Guangxi Province, China’s famous composer, conductor and educator, is the only one composer and conductor who go in for symphonic music creation in China.Zhong Xinming is regarded as a composer who is a collection of nationality, modernity and tradition. He is a productive composer, especially his symphony, which holds the important status in the Chinese contemporary music, is recognized as the one of the outstanding achievement "fourth generation" composers in the field of Chinese symphonic music. All along, Zhong Xinming made a lot useful attempts and achieved great success on the communication, connection and amalgamation between traditional music and symphony in the exploration and practice of Symphony nationalization.Especially his creation in the early1963’s Symphonic Suite " Picture of the Yangtze River ", which absorbed rich nutrition from folk music, which is a distinctive characteristic of Hubei symphony music. It created music both has a thick and heavy epic and an elegant and light poem by using modern composition techniques. He solved the problem of combination of nationalism and symphony in his art. The works in the early60’s Chinese is pretty "trendy", which can be said to be in the lead position of the country at that time.This paper made a research in the application of Zhong Xinming’s symphony creation and symphony nationalization creation to the Chinese national music elements, especially the Western Hubei folk music by using investigation, visitation, comparison, analysis and other methods. It briefly introduced Zhong Xinming and his symphony works in the preface, which aims to provide a comprehensive background information for the following.The text is divided into three parts:the first part briefly reviews the development course of world Symphonic music. The second part discusses the Chinese symphonic music and creation of the national practice, the first section is about the symphony music creation nationalization meaning; second section makes an introduction on development of Chinese symphonic music and practice of nationalization by four paragraphs. The third part is a concrete analysis on creative characteristics of Symphonic Suite " Picture of the Yangtze River ", are studied from four movements, trying to find out the internal relations between Zhong Xinming’s Symphony creation and Chinese folk music elements and formation and characteristics of the national style of the works.
