Study On Auxiliaries Of Linxian Dialect

Linxian dialect belongs to Fenzhou and Lvliang dialect of the western JinDialect. Current research focus of Lvliang dialect is primarily on phonetics andgrammar. Little attention is paid on the systematic study of auxiliaries. The paperadopts descriptive and comparative methods to analyze the auxiliaries bothsynchronically and diachronically, aiming to depict a overall picture of the auxiliariesin Lin Xian dialect.General geography of Lin Xian and the dialect widely used are introduced first.A brief description of previous research on auxiliaries in Lin Xian dialect, currentresearch status and the outcomes related to function words in Lin Xian dialect is thenpresented. Research methods adopted and significance of the study are also covered,which lays a solid foundation for the study on function words in Lin Xian dialect.Auxiliaries and their usage are depicted respectively in accordance with theresults of field work. A deep study of the etymology of some auxiliaries is also made.The usage of auxiliaries in Linxian dialect is clearly revealed on the basis of thethorough description of structure auxiliaries, aspect auxiliaries and temporalauxiliaries.The main contents and research significance are summarized in the conclusionpart.
