In all literary works, poetry is undoubtedly the most esthetic one. Accordingly, thetranslation practice of poetry is endowed with the highest difficulty. As translating poetryfrom Chinese into English, which covers mainly two challenges of representation of bothartistic conception and rhythm,is a big difficulty, one needs to resort to relevant researchresults and theoretical of poetic translation to develop and standardize his own researchmethods. This translation report explains translation theories mainly in the perspective ofpoetic translation. In the same time, a number of cases in the author’s translation practiceare illustrated, which embody the application and extension of relevant translationtheories in this practice, namely, the theory of “Three Beauties”.This project can be separated into two parts, namely, Jewelry and Jade ExhibitCatalogue in the first part and Aesthetics and Appreciation in the second part. On thefoundation of the specific content of this translation project, the second part of Aestheticsand Appreciation in particular, this report, under the guidance of Three Beauties,elaborates how to analyze and deal with problems that appear during this translationprogress.Xu Yuanchong put forward the standard of Three Beauties in converting Chinesepoems into other languages:poetry translation is supposed to deliver the meaning beauty,sound beauty and form beauty of the original poem as much as possible. Meaning beautyrequires content beauty, form beauty requires neat verse lines and stanzas of poems,sound beauty requires appropriate rhyme, readability and musicality. This report,combining with the theory of “Three Beauties”, discusses the connotation of “ThreeBeauties” and analyzes concrete cases in the jewelry and jade exhibit introductiontranslation project. This translation report consists of four parts: topic selection background, the processof the translation project, analysis of cases based on Three Beauties of Xu Yuanchongand conclusions. As for topic selection background, it includes topic selection andcharacteristics of the original text; as for the process of the translation project, it includespreparation before translation and the process of translation; as for analysis of casesbased on Three Beauties of Xu Yuanchong, it includes the introduction of Xu Yuanchong,the theory of Three Beauties, application of Three Beauties in my translation practice andsummary of the translation project; as for the conclusion, an overall description ofrecognition of this translation project is expounded.This report, as well as this translation project, combines with the theory of "threebeauty" and explains the guidance of meaning beauty, sound beauty and form beauty inthe jewelry and jade exhibit introduction translation project, aiming to demonstrate anexemplification for students major in English translation and translation lovers to get abetter understanding and a fruitful lesson in the field of poetry translation.
