The Research On Inscriptions And Funeral Orations Of Wang Anshi

There are a total of168articles of funeral orations and inscriptions of Wang Anshi,164of which are specially designed for the dead. For the consistency of the described object,the unity of artistic characteristics and ideology and the convergence of the content and function, we treat the funeral orations and inscriptions as the joint research object.In this study,the funeral orations and inscriptions of Wang Anshi are divided into three categories:articles for famous officials, friends and relatives and people to socialize. The funeral orations and inscriptions for different person reflect different creative mentalities and style characteristics of Wang Anshi. The funeral orations and inscriptions for famous officials focus on the discussion of the public affairs from the point view of a politician.For friends and relatives,he focused on the descriptions of the details and lyrical in respect of an ordinary people.For socializing he focused on the introduction of its life, office and family background,which was highly descriptive. The funeral orations and inscriptions of Wang Anshi reflects a distinct personal touch, for example,his expertise in argument and his informal wording which have a close relationship to his pragmatic and capable personality as a political reformer.We also try to explore the complex thoughts and feelings of Wang Anshi according to his funeral orations and inscriptions. Wang Anshi harbored the ambitions of the responsibility for the world, and emphasized the text of "making sure to make up the world" which can explaine his political reform ideas like other articles. He also paid special attention to the friendship and affection, which can be seen from his sincere feelings and deep lament in his funeral orations and inscriptions. Life and death can not be avoided by anyone.Wang Anshi paid quite a lot of attention to it.From his funeral orations and inscriptions,we get his unique outlook on life and death:Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism concept of life and death.As a special style, the funeral orations and inscriptions have important historical and literary values. In this study,We try to do a comprehensive study of Wang Anshi’s funeral orations and inscriptions treating them as a new perspective. We also try to explore the spiritual world of Wang Anshi to rich the case study of Wang Anshi,so as to further understand the literary at that time.
