The internet journalism has been increasingly concerned by the majority of researchers and scholars, so this thesis studies the internet news headline editing based on the memetics theory.Memetics is a new theory in the field of biology in the beginning, and then is introduced into the social, cultural and linguistic fields. In linguistics studies, the replication and transmission of memetics are used to construct the new language, and thus makes language more vivid and imaginative. From the perspective of memetics, internet news headline as a form of language meme, also survives by replicating and transmitting. This thesis mainly utilizes the characteristics of language meme and the replication and transmission modes to study how internet news headline is standing out in a number of news headlines and getting favor of readers. The study of the internet news headline with the theoretical basis of the memetics theory not only puts forward a new editorial perspective for journalists, but also arises the researchers’ concern about the study of internet culture and provides new ideas and methods in internet language study as well.
