Flannery O’Connor, a contemporary woman writer in the southern United States, is considered as one of the most eminent Catholic writers in the twentieth century. O’Connor herself is a devout Catholic believer. From her point of view, all of the things, including her disease, are relevant to religion. O’Connor maintains that an individual will behave abnormal once he converts his religious beliefs. While breaking painfully from his original secular moralities and values by violence and death, one can obtain his opportunity of atonement and salvation. Thus, the key to O’Connor’s study should focus on the study of her religious views.Flannery:A Life of Flannery O’Connor is a great work written by Brad Gooch, an American biographer. Published in2009, the book is called "a belated biography". Based on Gooch’s Flannery:A Life of Flannery O’Connor, this thesis aims to employ the theory of fact and fiction in biography to analyze Brad Gooch’s revelation and explanation of O’Connor’s religious views reflected in Flannery:A Life of Flannery O’Connor. The purpose of this thesis is to explore the unification of fact and fiction in the writing of biographical literature.
