This thesis takes the Mao Dun prize in literature works for instance, aims to explore the modern consciousness of contemporary Chinese historical fiction, and through exploring it to provide beneficial reference to the creation of historical novels under the background of globalization.In terms of history concept, the works which awarded Mao Dun literature prize have a distinct modern consciousness. These works got rid of the influence of mentalism history idea which believes that heroes make history, and began to pay attention to the historical role of people, affirm their intrinsic value, what’s more, on the problems of ethnic relations, they broke through the influence of the Han chauvinism, those writers exposed various dark feudal autocratic rule with a democratic view of history.In respect of characterization, Mao Dun literature prize-winning works also embody the distinctive modern consciousness. Lack of critical spirit and rich artistic expression is undoubtedly restricts the development of Chinese Contemporary Literature. To address these shortcomings, in the proper absorption of Chinese excellent traditional culture at the same time, differentiation of learning techniques of modern Western literature, historical novels can really integrate with the world.
