Confucianism was established as official ideology for thousand years after Han Dynasty. With the change of regime, Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism cultural shift in the fight.Since Confucian forces weakened, Buddhism and Taoism has reached their own peak in Tang Dynasty. During the period of Wu zetian, Buddha was pursued and Buddhism became the mainstream of society. Out of political considerations, the Emperor Xuan of Tang committed to pressuring the Buddha. Taoism ushered in the golden age and Taoism has become the personal pursuit of people’s life. Development of the Tang Dynasty Buddhist and Taoist thoughts reflected in the culture, which is the ancient ghost notes has got to the peak, including the prevalence of ghosts and gods, and the authenticity difficile. The ghost story from Wei and Jin Dynasty ghost novel to Tang Legend, has begun to take shape, provided materials for Song, Yuan, even to the Ming and Qing Dynasties synthesizer ghost stories. This study is based on the description of "The Grand Collections of Tang and the Five Dynasties Notes Story" in the aspect of ghost image, and try to compare other female characters with female ghost in her female heterogeneous descriptions, sum up the "The Grand Collections of Tang and the Five Dynasties Notes Story". Tang notes novel ghost descriptions, and explore their artistic imagination behind reflect Tang people’s ideas and spiritual pursuit, analysis of the influences on the society of the Tang Dynasty and function.This paper is divided into five parts:The first part addressed the purpose of the study that explain the main significance of the research. Secondly, definite the related concepts involved in this study, including ghosts, gods, fine, strange, so we can determine the scope of the ghost. Then this part introduces the methodology of research. The article based on qualitative research which focusing on its inner connection. Through direct comparison of different description, the literature research summarizes the particularity of ghost image.The second part introduced "The Grand Collections of Tang and the Five Dynasties Notes Story". Then,analysis the characteristics of female ghost in "The Grand Collections of Tang and the Five Dynasties Notes Story". The whole book of ghost are summarized from the five aspects which include appearance, dress, personality, hobbies and capable. By comparing the different descriptions in the novel, it describes seven kinds of female ghost.The third part inspect and describe lasting identical type female ghost image in different historical stages before Tang Dynasty and historical culture reason of its evolution. Then it introduces the unique cultural of the Tang Dynasty by the view of the female ghost.The fourth part tells the correlations between the female ghost and Tang Dynasties in "The Grand Collections of Tang and the Five Dynasties Notes Story". In Tang Dynasty, because the religion obtained the chance to the peak, there appeared political needs which promoted the prosperity of Buddhism and Taoism, Buddhism and Taoism’s development needs also promoted the popularization of Ghost Novels, and enrich the ghost images. Religious secularization also created ideological conditions for the ghost images of secularization. Secondly, the improved political status of women and Buddhism, Taoism of the gender equality advocacy provide a broad platform for the women’s individual development, women’s personality liberated, and literary creation in literature is so diversified to female ghost images. Then the rise of intellectuals of Tang literature, mystery and romance story author often is the contemporary educated intellectuals, which may include many aristocracies. They make the Tang Dynasty literature whether text style and ideological content has become full of new conception, and given our strong feeling of literary flavor. On the other hand, the mystery of ghosts in this popular novel satisfied people’s curiosity in the Tang Dynasty.The fifth part mainly analyzes the function of female ghost in "The Grand Collections of Tang and the Five Dynasties Notes Story". Literature has always been the epitome of contemporary society. The author used perspective of cultural functionalism dynasty the views of ghost to describe and explain the thought and spirit of people in Tang dynasty. It also produced far-reaching effects to the novel after Tang Dynasty.The conclusion part summarized the content of this article that explains the limitations of this study and points out some problems which need further study.
