Ye Zhaoyan’s enthusiasm for writing fiction is rare in contemporary literary in china, he write a lot of fiction. Some literary critics think that Ye Zhaoyan’s fiction has the deep cultural awareness. In fact, the cultural awareness is influenced by the author’s cultural position and cultural personality. After reading many of his works, I think that the cultural position of Ye Zhaoyan inherits from the tradition and consistents with the modern culture at the same time. His fiction is come from the incorporation of traditional culture and modern culture. This article analyzes the cultural awareness of the Ye Zhaoyan’s fiction minutely. This paper is divided into three parts.The first part analyzes the cultural position and personality of Ye Zhaoyan and confirms the cultural position of his inherits from the tradition and Consistents with the modern culture at the same time. This cultural position’s formation has two kinds of factors, the intern and extern. The internal causes is mainly come from the influence of his family culture, and the external causes is come from the change of the literary trends range from the late1980s to1990s. We can get a more comprehensive understanding of the background of his cultural position and cultural personality with analyzing the internal and external factors.The second part mainly analyzes the tradition culture consciousness of Ye Zhaoyan’s fiction. He shapes a group of characters who have the traditional culture connotation. He shows the survival present situation of traditional culture in society with describing the characters. His fiction let the readers reflect how to inherit the traditional culture correctly. In the fiction’s creative process, the Chinese classical fiction’s style also has a great influence on the Ye Zhaoyan. He is inspired by the Chinese classical style of fiction, such as sketch books、Sung and Yuan literary novel scripts and so on. His fiction keep the characteristics of the great story in classical fiction. The tradition culture consciousness of Ye Zhaoyan’s fiction has a profound connection with regional culture. Nanjing, an ancient capital of six Dynasties, not only provides sources for Ye Zhaoyan’s novels creation, but also influences the gentle style of narrative style.The third part mainly explores the modern culture awareness of Ye Zhaoyan’s fiction.
