| Project-based teaching approach is a teaching activity during which the teacher andstudents implement a complete project with the aim to train students’ ability in inquiry-basedlearning. On the basis of project teaching approach and relevant theories and with tourismEnglish teaching in secondary vocational school as the research objective, this paper discusseshow to introduce project-based teaching approach to tourism English teaching so as todemonstrate the feasibility and problems of the application of project-based teaching intourism English teaching.This paper starts with analysis of current tourism English teaching and related problemsin secondary vocational school, puts forward the necessity why project teaching method shallbe applied to tourism English teaching.Then,it expounds related concepts, theoretical basisand research progress of project-based teaching. And in the end, conducting one-termteaching experiment in tourism English course uses scientific research methods-combinationof qualitative and quantitative, the according with elements of project-based teachingapproach and the teaching practices at Shandong Business Institute. Finally combiningscientific research tools including pre-test and post test, questionnaire survey and interviewsexamines the effects of application of project-based teaching approach to tourism Englishteaching in secondary vocational school.Based on research and experimental results, this paper has drawn the followingconclusions:1. Project-based teaching can be applied to tourism English teaching. Compared with thetraditional English teaching, project-based teaching imposes higher requirements on teachers’quality and teaching skill.2. As a new teaching approach, projec-based t teaching has not widely applied to tourismEnglish teaching and students suffer from insufficient learning experience.3. The application of projec-based t teaching to tourism English teaching is helpful toimprove students’ motive and interest in English learning approach and develop students’innovative and cooperative spirit.4. The application of project-based teaching approach to tourism English teaching can promote the integration of secondary vocational English with professional courses, give a fullplay to student’s subjectivity as well as substantially improve English teaching effect insecondary vocational school.Therefore, it is feasible and effective to apply project-based teaching approach to tourismEnglish teaching in secondary vocational school. |
