Endowed with considerable liveliness and enormous potential, the teaching ofconsecutive interpreting develops rapidly to meet social needs and the need to developEnglish major. And consecutive interpreting course in colleges and universitiesundertakes the essential role of training qualified interpreters and catering to the needof promoting the breadth and depth of disciplinary development.Therefore, centered on the course of consecutive interpreting, this thesisdiscusses the training methods in CI (consecutive interpreting) by referring to theoriesand researches in this field. In addition, interpretation evaluation is one of the mostimportant researches in interpreting study. Under this circumstance, some feasible andpracticable teaching suggestions are proposed based on theories in CI and anempirical study of MTI students after training in CI.This thesis is composed of four chapters. Chapter One is literature reviewincluding some representative researches and studies in CI especially their influenceon training methods and evaluation of CI. Chapter Two deals with training methods ofconsecutive interpreting course. Chapter Three introduces interpretation evaluationand some studies in this field where the evaluation study of Cai Xiaohong isillustrated in details. In the last Chapter, MTI students are tested after their training inconsecutive interpreting and their outcomes and performance are evaluated in detailswith respective analysis listed, among which18representative reports are chosen asexamples of evaluation.Ultimately, through analysis of related theories and empirical studies, somepractical suggestions are put forward for the present CI teaching and qualityevaluation.
